Currently the Legal Affairs Secretary in the cabinet of California Governor Gavin Newsom, Lhamon formerly served as Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education and as director of impact litigation at Public Counsel, America’s largest pro bono law firm. Honored as one of Politico’s 50 Thinkers Transforming Politics in 2016 and California Lawyer’s Attorney of the Year for Civil Rights in 2004, Lhamon is a powerful voice for justice and equity.
