Today, December 1st, join the Council in recognizing World AIDS Day. According to UNAIDS, an estimated 1.8 million individuals worldwide became newly infected with HIV in 2017 – about 5,000 new infections per day.
People experiencing homelessness are more likely to be HIV positive compared to other groups known to be at highest risk for HIV infection. A lack of access to routine health care services hinders many of those living without homes from receiving the recommended screenings for the disease.
