Council Recognizes World AIDS Day

World AIDS DayToday, December 1st, join the Council in recognizing World AIDS Day. According to UNAIDS, an estimated 1.8 million individuals worldwide became newly infected with HIV in 2017 – about 5,000 new infections per day.

People experiencing homelessness are more likely to be HIV positive compared to other groups known to be at highest risk for HIV infection. A lack of access to routine health care services hinders many of those living without homes from receiving the recommended screenings for the disease.
