Council Recognizes American Diabetes Month

This November, join the Council in recognizing American Diabetes Month. Diabetes was the 7th leading cause of death in the United States in 2015. More than 30 million people have diabetes – over nine percent of the population. For those without homes, management of this disease is specifically challenging since maintaining a healthy diet is more difficult and refrigerating insulin may simply be impossible.

Find out how you can promote diabetes awareness at the American Diabetes Association, or learn more about diabetes as it affects people experiencing homelessness on our Diabetes resource page.
