The National Health Care for the Homeless Council is pleased to announce a new Learning Collaborative addressing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in homeless services. Racism is a historical and ongoing contributor to American homelessness, and our collective efforts to serve people without homes must adopt anti-racist principles to be effectual. Moreover, an increasingly diverse workforce necessitates that we learn to manage and respond to privilege and discrimination within our own organizations.
The Learning Collaborative will include up to ten organizations meeting monthly beginning in January 2019 via conference call, culminating in an in-person session at our National HCH Conference in May 2019. These meetings will include discussions on human resources and hiring practices, data analysis on racial equity, and staff training on DEI, among other topics.
