The Council’s latest Healing Hands is a double-issue examining the importance of preventive care and strategies to expand access to these crucial health care services. It can be difficult for homeless health care clinicians to provide this care in the face of limited resources and the need to address urgent health concerns. Best practices to increase access to this critical care through key screenings and holistic strategies come into focus in this issue.
The first issue, “Preventive Care for People Experiencing Homelessness,” addresses key screenings and programs to help expand access to preventive care. Part two, “Expanding Our Vision of Possibilities for Preventive Care,” focuses on common barriers to accessing such care and showcases clinicians’ best practices for helping their patients overcome these obstacles.
Healing Hands is designed by homeless health care professionals for homeless health care professionals, particularly clinicians and support staff, across the U.S. This publication is designed to help learners understand and apply information about effective delivery of health care to patients without homes. CME credits are available for reading the issue and successfully completing the post-test.
