Honor Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day

Homeless Persons' Memorial DayJoin the Council in recognizing Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day (HPMD) on December 21st, the first day of winter and the longest night of the year. On this day, we honor those who have died and strengthen our resolve to work for a world in which no life is lived or lost in homelessness. Every year many across the U.S. observe Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day with events unique to their communities–through name readings, moments of silence, marches, and other expressions of commemoration.

The Council has many resources available to help promote this upcoming day of remembrance, including our HPMD Public Statement and Advocacy Agenda, and an Organizing Manual containing sample documents, helpful planning resources, and advocacy recommendations. Please contact Katherine Cavanaugh, Consumer Advocate, for additional information or to let us know about your event.
