Immigration Enforcement and Health Centers: Knowing Your Rights as a Provider

In light of recent policy and enforcement activities involving immigrants, this discussion will provide legal background on providers’ rights and responsibilities with regard to law enforcement and the privacy and confidentiality of patients’ identifying information (as well as personal health information).

Information related to “sensitive locations,” how front desk and other health center staff should respond to immigration authorities onsite, and best practices will be included. Links to key documents from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other resources will also be provided.
