Veterans Day is Sunday, November 11, and many businesses will offer a host of discounts and free meals to veterans. Health Care for the Homeless grantees can help spread the word about these wonderful promotions to their veteran consumers, who numbered more than 22,000 in 2011. Over a dozen national restaurant chains will offer free or discounted meals, and numerous retailers will provide substantial discounts for services. For lodging, the “B&B for Vets” program will provide a free night’s stay to a veteran and guest at bed-and-breakfasts across the country. A full listing of Veterans Day promotions is available on the US Army’s website.
To learn more about how HCH grantees serve unstably housed veterans in their communities, don’t miss our free webinar on Tuesday, November 13, at 1 p.m. Eastern. Titled “Joining Forces: Improving Care for Veterans through HCH-VA Collaborations” this one-hour webinar will feature the experiences and recommendations of two HCH providers. You can register here.
