National HCH Council files amicus brief supporting human rights and health reform

This spring, the U.S. Supreme Court will begin hearing arguments on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act (Health Reform; the ACA). The National HCH Council has filed, along with other like-minded organizations, an amicus brief outlining the constitutionality of the ACA on the grounds that it supports international human rights accords signed by the U.S. and addresses racial disparities in access to health care. Specifically, the Medicaid Expansion which will extend health coverage to most low-income (and homeless) citizens – citizens who are disproportionately underserved minorities.
