Executive Position Description
The Vice President of Operations/Clinical Services is responsible for providing administrative and operational direction and leadership over all clinical and health related programs and services at SJMCS. The position is committed to the philosophy and goals of SJMCS and promotes excellence in practice and management through the role as an evaluator, change agent, educator, consultant, and professional role model. Duties include direct supervision of medical director and program/operations management staff, oversight and ultimate responsibility for viability and strategic direction of programs and clinic operations, program budgets, quality assurance, grants management, health education and customer service. This position is a key member of the SJMCS Leadership Team and complies with all SJMCS and SJHS policies and procedures and actively supports the Mercy Philosophy.
Requirements
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: A Master’s in Business Administration or Health Services Administration required and a clinical degree is preferred. | |
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of ten (10) years progressive management experience in health care administration, five of which should be in a leadership role in an ambulatory care or related clinical environment. Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center highly desired. |
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated application of health care management theory and practice; demonstrated use of sound leadership principles; and assurance that regulatory and specialty standards of practice are met. Applies knowledge of principles and practices of health care administration, health care financial reimbursement and management, legal and ethical issues, continuous quality improvement processes, planning and grants management. Ability to work effectively in a leadership role while integrating all team members. Proven ability to gain trust and credibility with physicians and other clinical staff. Well developed verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge and understanding of catholic Healthcare and Catholic Social Teachings and Ethical and Religious Directives.
Must be able to plan, organize and coordinate varied and complex operations. Must demonstrate constructive conflict resolution; collect, analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources and take appropriate action. Must be able to select, supervise, train and evaluate management employees and establish development plans as appropriate. Leads in the development of program budgets and assists department directors and other managers in developing and managing to their budgets.
Responsibilities
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY FOR:
Medical Director and other program/clinical management staff. Actively collaborates with other Vice Presidents and management staff.
