Job Description
Social Work Internship opportunity will provide the social work student with experience in working for a national organization whose work is directed by experts who are dispersed across the country. This is an unpaid internship with the expectation of 6-8 hours of work per week. By the end of the internship, the student will meet the following objectives:
- Understand systemic barriers that cause and perpetuate homelessness
- Understand how organizations collaborate on common advocacy agendas
- Understand the principles of Health Care for people experiencing homelessness
- Describe policy and advocacy efforts to improve health care delivery for people experiencing homelessness
- Understand how federal policy impacts state and local practice
- Understand how to glean information from national committees of experts in order to develop national policy and practice recommendations
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook email and Microsoft Office
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and organizations
- For Marketing internship, familiarity with Database software preferably Filemaker Pro, and web-based email marketing products, preferably Constant Contact
Requirements
- For Public Health, Current Masters of Public Health students are preferred.
- For Social Work, Second Year MSSW students are preferred, however, well qualified first year students will be considered
- For Marketing and Communications, the preferred majors/areas of study include: communications, marketing, journalism, and public relations
