The National Health Care for the Homeless Council is accepting abstracts for poster presentation at the 2008 National Health Care for the Homeless Conference scheduled for June 12-14 at the Hyatt Regency in Phoenix, Arizona. The posters will showcase clinical and programmatic research and innovative work being done in the field of healthcare and homelessness across the country. One free conference registration will accompany each accepted poster presentation.
POSTER CATEGORIES
- Clinical or programmatic research on homeless health care issues: Descriptive, experimental, quasi-experimental, methodological, epidemiological, etc. research; outcomes and evaluation; and intervention studies.
- Patient care: Primary health care; mental health and substance abuse services; subspecialty care; pharmacy; referral and tracking; case management; outreach; health education; art therapy; respite care.
- Program administration: Staff management and professional development; fiscal management; information systems; quality assurance.
- Community collaborations: Employment counseling and job training; housing; SSI; collaboration with sister agencies; volunteer utilization; advocacy; welfare reform and the impact of managed care.
Abstracts are peer reviewed and a broad variety of entries will be accepted, including both completed and in-progress projects. Abstracts/posters should be related to homeless issues and those with clinical, programmatic, and/or policy implications are strongly encouraged.
Posters should consist of visually interesting charts, graphs, photos, drawings and text mounted on a 3'w x 4'h vertical poster board. Be concise; materials displayed must be visible from two - three feet. Handouts are encouraged but audiovisual equipment cannot be accommodated. Presenters must be available at scheduled times to discuss their presentation with conference participants. All poster presenters attending the conference will be required to register. Presenters cannot be reimbursed for travel or other expenses.
DEADLINE: Abstract submission deadline is April 15, 2008. Decisions on acceptance of posters will be communicated by May 5.
